The altcoin market is showing two distinctly different development trajectories. One type, like emerging Tokens, may experience explosive growth in the short term, with prices rapidly climbing several times, followed by a long-term adjustment at high levels. The other type consists of some more mature Tokens, which typically follow the overall market trend and rise slowly, with relatively moderate increases, but they may quickly pull back their previous gains during market pullbacks.
From a statistical perspective, only about 20% of alts belong to the first category, while the vast majority (about 80%) belong to the second category. This phenomenon reflects that the cryptocurrency market is gradually aligning itself with traditional financial markets, especially as the similarity to the U.S. stock market increases. Market funds are increasingly concentrated in a few projects considered high quality, leading to a clear polarization trend in the overall market. This change can be seen as a sign of the market gradually maturing.
In the face of this market landscape, for investors who are not skilled at selecting niche Tokens, focusing investments on the top ten mainstream cryptocurrencies by market capitalization may be a relatively robust strategy. This approach not only reduces risk but also has the potential to outperform most alts in the long run.
However, it is worth noting that regardless of the investment strategy chosen, the high volatility and uncertainty of the cryptocurrency market still exist. Investors should fully understand the characteristics of this market and conduct thorough research and risk assessment before making any investment decisions.
