VERTU launches Web3 luxury phone with high configuration of 18GB+1TB starting at a price of 25,800.
VERTU Launches Innovative Web3 Phone, High Price Sparks Controversy
Recently, luxury mobile phone brand VERTU launched its first Web3 smartphone "METAVERTU", officially released in London and starting global sales. As a former high-end sub-brand under Nokia, VERTU has always targeted the high-end business luxury goods positioning, with its products priced far above ordinary smartphones.
This new model continues VERTU's consistent luxury style, featuring a ceramic and metal body, embedded with the iconic sapphire glass. There is also a version made of Himalayan crocodile leather, crafted with precious materials such as 18K gold and diamonds, showcasing an esteemed identity.
In terms of configuration, METAVERTU is equipped with a 6.67-inch 144Hz high refresh rate screen, powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, which basically reaches mainstream flagship level. The camera system includes three lenses, including the Sony IMX787 main camera, supporting 9x optical zoom. For battery life, it has a built-in 4600mAh battery that supports 55W fast charging.
The most notable feature is its storage configuration, with up to 18GB of RAM, 1TB of internal storage, and 10TB of distributed storage space. This is also a major selling point for METAVERTU as a Web3 phone.
METAVERTU is equipped with a self-developed CNCOS operating system and has a built-in blockchain node, allowing users to convert photos and videos into NFTs with one click. It also features end-to-end encrypted communication and DAPP applications, among other Web3 characteristics. Considering the user base, it is also equipped with an A5 security chip that meets financial-grade security standards.
In addition to hardware, VERTU also offers exclusive services such as 24-hour concierge service, NFT investment guidance, and more. However, the Web3 concept is still immature, and its practicality needs to be verified. Some comments suggest that the main selling point of METAVERTU lies in its understanding of the privacy and security needs of business professionals.
METAVERTU has launched a total of six versions, with a starting price of 25,800 yuan and a top configuration priced at up to 300,000 yuan. Although the pre-sale response has been good, it has also sparked a lot of controversy. Some people question its "intelligence tax" nature, while others believe that user experience is the key.
Overall, METAVERTU, as the first Web3 phone, does indeed have highlights in technological innovation and luxurious craftsmanship. However, whether its high price can gain market recognition remains to be seen. For ordinary consumers, this product may be more of a status symbol rather than a practical choice.
