The Vietnamese Prime Minister is expected to reach a trade agreement with the United States before the tariff deadline in July.

Gate News bot message, Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh stated on Wednesday that he expects to reach a trade agreement with the United States before the expiration of the suspension period for the 46% reciprocal tariff on Vietnamese exports in early July. The Vietnamese government is in frequent communication with the Trump administration regarding tariff issues.

Fan Mingzheng said: "I hope you will see that the results will come out in two weeks. Vietnam and the United States have a deep understanding of the tariff issue, and I hope all positive things will come to us."

Vietnam is a major manufacturing hub in Southeast Asia and has held multiple rounds of negotiations with the United States, the latest of which ended last week. Vietnam seeks to avoid a reinstatement of the 46% tariff rate.

This tax rate was initially imposed by the United States due to Vietnam's substantial trade surplus with Washington.

Data from the Vietnamese government shows that in May, Vietnam's trade surplus with the United States rose to $12.2 billion, an increase of nearly 42% year-on-year, and a growth of 17% compared to April. Exports to the U.S. grew by 42% year-on-year, reaching $13.8 billion, hitting a peak since the pandemic.
