IBC Eureka is Live: One Network, Infinite Chains

IBC Eureka brings one-click transfers for hundreds of billions in assets across Ethereum, Bitcoin, and Cosmos.

Today, Cosmos introduces IBC Eureka — melting the boundary between Cosmos and Ethereum. Eureka is an end-to-end integrated interoperability solution that expands the IBC protocol to Ethereum for the first time ever. It’s more than a product launch. It marks the first step in IBC evolving from an ecosystem-standard to a universal interoperability protocol and sets the hub on a course to become the home of multichain apps.

  • Want to try Eureka? Transfer assets on Go.Cosmos.Network now!
  • Want to integrate Eureka? Contact us to get started.

For users, IBC Eureka makes hundreds of Cosmos apps and chains more accessible through fast and secure asset transfers between all Cosmos chains and Ethereum. For appchains, Eureka provides access to billions in liquidity on Ethereum with minimal cost and infrastructure and maximum security

Projects integrating IBC Eureka support day one include Bitcoin services provider Babylon for its Genesis mainnet launch, Bitcoin LST and DeFi projects Lombard, Solv Protocol, PumpBTC, SatLayer, Lorenzo Protocol, Ether.fi, Babypie, Kinza Finance, Tower Labs, Elys Network, data services provider SEDA Protocol, blind compute network Nillion, and soon leading DeFi blockchains dYdX, Injective, MANTRA Chain, and zkCloud will follow.

The Multichain Developer Platform and its Distribution Rails

Eureka is a milestone in Cosmos and the creation of true multichain experiences across ecosystems.** Projects today rely on bridges to expand, export services, and import users or assets. But bridges traditionally introduce new intermediaries, fragment liquidity and users, and constrain multichain programming. Building across chains today is harder than it needs to be for multichain to grow.

IBC Eureka changes the interoperability paradigm. It lets developers build multichain apps that can move seamlessly across ecosystems — without fragmenting users or introducing new risks. With Eureka, apps can leverage the best of any chain with a high-security, protocol-native connection. An ideal railway for the multichain, using the Cosmos Hub as a coordination layer to allow chains to tap into the IBC network with just 1 connection.

This way we can create a distribution zone from which builders can easily access all IBC connections, users, liquidity, and services in a scalable manner without adding any new infrastructure. A marketplace for apps, services, assets, that the Cosmos Hub can act as a gateway to, allowing apps to leverage hundreds of protocols cross-chain as building blocks. One network, infinite blockchains, and limitless possibilities.

IBC Eureka: Taking IBC Everywhere

Since its launch four years ago, IBC has become one of the most popular cross-chain messaging systems in web3, facilitating an average of up to $3B in transaction volume between over 115 blockchains every month. However, the complex design of IBC v1 made it challenging to connect to ecosystems outside of Cosmos.

With IBC Eureka, that changes. Chains that connect to IBC Eureka get light client-based interoperability offering maximum security, with minimum infrastructure overhead — using the Cosmos Hub and the Skip API to route IBC transactions to hundreds of IBC connections.

IBC Eureka uses:

  • IBC v2**:** The upgraded implementation of the Inter-Blockchain Communication Protocol that brings connectivity to Ethereum today and soon to chains like Solana, Base, and Arbitrum. The Ethereum connection uses Succint’s SP1 to run a tendermint light client, and generate proofs.
  • Skip:Go**:** A multichain bridge and DEX aggregator that delivers 1-click transfers to hundreds of chains with $800M+ volume per month.
  • Cosmos Hub**:** The main chain of Cosmos now has a new purpose: the web3 coordination layer that delivers easy access to all IBC networks and services.

What You Can Do with IBC Eureka

Eureka releases with a thriving ecosystem of projects and protocols around it. Here are some of the things you can do with Eureka and Eureka-bridged assets:

What You Can Do Today

  • Babylon’scommunity will be able to move their Bitcoin liquid staking tokens (LSTs) from Ethereum to Babylon’s Cosmos chain easily, opening up access to native BTC DeFi. BABY is also supported for transfers.
  • Babypie users will be able to bridge mBTC from Ethereum to the Babylon Genesis mainnet.
  • Elys**,** where you will be able to trade with WETH, WBTC, USDT, and more assets from Ethereum.
  • Ether.fi is supporting transfers from Ethereum to Babylon of its eBTC asset.
  • Kinza Finance will integrate IBC Eureka to help facilitate multichain support for their Bitcoin LRT, kBTC, on cosmos and cosmos-based chains, including Babylon.
  • Lombardis allowing users to transfer LBTC between Ethereum and Babylon for use in Babylon DeFi.
  • Lorenzo is enabling bridging of stBTC/enzoBTC from ETH/BNB to Babylon mainnet and other Cosmos chains.
  • Nillion**,** supporting the transfer of the network’s asset, NIL.
  • PumpBTC users will be able to transfer PumpBTC tokens from Ethereum to Babylon for use in Babylon’s DeFi.
  • Tower DEX enables users to bridge multiple tokens to be traded on its new Tower.fi DEX, which will launch on Babylon Genesis.
  • Solv Protocolwill integrate Eureka into its platform and allow users to transfer SolvBTC
  • SatLayer: As Babylon’s official restaking partner, SatLayer will use IBC Eureka to support fast and easy restaking of assets from Ethereum and Cosmos.

What You Can Do Soon

  • dYdX, the largest decentralised derivatives exchange by volume, is using IBC Eureka in an upcoming release to bring Ethereum liquidity flows and new multichain trading features.
  • Injective will be adding support for assets transferred over IBC Eureka into its vault platform.
  • MANTRA, a leading RWA platform, will leverage IBC Eureka to bridge institutional capital from Ethereum into Cosmos-based real estate markets, staking infrastructure, and permissioned DeFi applications.
  • SEDAusers will be able to transfer SEDA assets from the SEDA Network to Ethereum for use in DeFi.
  • ZkCloud users will use Eureka to expand the availability of the PROOF token in other ecosystems. $PROOF correlates with ZK industry size and revenue.

Assets available include LBTC, SolvBTC, SolvBTC.BBN, PumpBTC, stBTC, enzoBTC, mBTC, eBTC, WBTC, WETH, WBTC, sUSDS, NIL, SEDA, and USDT. Check the application at for the latest listings.

Accessing IBC Eureka as a Cosmos chain is permissionless and only requires a new IBC connection to the Cosmos Hub. Relaying between the Cosmos Hub and Ethereum is initially permissioned. The only impact this could have is on liveness, as the full light client security is still leveraged. In the future, relaying this route will be open to anyone. While we encourage chains to use Eureka’s aggregated route, chains can spin up P2P connections powered by Eureka’s infrastructure as well, or fully self-manage their connections with vanilla IBC v2.
