The U.S. has borrowed to restart the Gaza talks with a ceasefire between Israel. Trump claims the protocol is "close to being reached."
On June 26, Jin10 reported that the United States is pushing for a new round of negotiations to end the Gaza conflict and rescue hostages. Trump hopes to take advantage of the opportunity created by the Israel-Iran ceasefire agreement to end the conflict that has led to heavy costs in the Middle East for nearly two decades. Although there are still significant differences between Israel and Hamas, Arab officials facilitating the negotiations stated that both sides have shown a willingness to reach an agreement. Mediators said they are consulting with both parties via phone and may meet soon in Egypt—Egypt and Qatar had previously assisted the United States in mediating Gaza talks. On Wednesday, Trump told reporters at the NATO summit in The Hague that the Israel-Iran ceasefire has improved the atmosphere for Gaza negotiations: "I think significant progress is being made on the Gaza issue, and I believe we will soon receive good news." Trump revealed that U.S. envoy Witkoff recently reported on the progress of the negotiations, telling him that a Gaza agreement is very close to being reached.
